Two books
My journey into book arts began with a gift. My husband gave me a beautiful journal with a stone inset on the cover. It was too lovely for me to write in! It stayed on my shelf for many months, nearly untouched.

Later I taught myself how to make similar books by hand. My first books were also gifts: blank stab-bound books with fabric covers for my family. I learned early techniques from books I purchased or checked out from the library, and gathered inspiration and encouragement from online groups and other artists.

To keep me motivated and creative on a regular basis, I subscribe to several online art groups, participate in occassional swaps and round-robins, and get together with fellow artists whenever I can. It helps me to have that outside motivation (deadlines and art-dates) so that I allow myself to play, create, and finish art. I also am an avid reader and pick up every "book-on-books" that I can get my hands on.

I love exploring new book forms, structures and bindings. I have found the book arts to be the perfect creative art form, with limitless possibilities for artistic and personal expression.

I hope you enjoy this site, and that it inspires your creative muse! I'd love to hear from you...

Best wishes,

~ Nikki
